IGRAFX LAUNCHES NEW MAPPING AND ANALYSIS SOLUTION FOR THE LEAN COMMUNITY
Lean Practitioners to Gain Efficiencies in Documenting, Communicating and Analyzing Value Streams
Tualatin, Ore .. - November 30, 2004 - iGrafx®, a leading provider of Business Process Analysis (BPA) solutions, announced the availability of a unique set of mapping and analysis tools for Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma practitioners in its just released 2005 version of the iGrafx product family.
In an industry first, users will have the ability to easily develop diagrams regularly used by Lean practitioners including value stream maps, SIPOC diagrams, layout diagrams and pick charts all within a single tool. Additionally, the value stream maps contain unique analysis capabilities that automatically calculate critical Lean metrics such as Takt Time, Lead Time, VA Time and Efficiency as well as automatically generating Timelines and Line Balancing charts. The Lean diagramming capabilities are available as standard functionality in each of the four iGrafx desktop process analysis products.
The 2005 version of the iGrafx product suite represents a significant advancement in the award-winning iGrafx products, currently in use by more than two thirds of the Fortune 100 companies. iGrafx has a history of developing groundbreaking process excellence solutions that target specific user needs while facilitating an enterprise-wide approach to process improvement such as its flagship product iGrafx FlowCharter 2005, the industry leading iGrafx Process 2005 for Six Sigma and the enterprise process management server, iGrafx Process Central 2005.
"The Value Stream Mapping (VSM) capability in iGrafx FlowCharter 2005 is the solution to our problem," said Mark Nash, managing director, Argent Global Services. "Creating electronic copies of maps from our hand-drawn work used to take us anywhere from four hours to several days, depending on the complexity of the map. With iGrafx, we can accomplish this task in minutes. Our mapping experts finally have a tool that simplifies map creation and gives us the analysis capability we need to make VSM work in the field."
"Lean principles are driving significant results and achieving recognition that are extending beyond the traditional manufacturing realm," said Ken Carraher, president, iGrafx. "We recognized that Lean practitioners could greatly benefit from a comprehensive set of tools that helped them to document and manage the information they were gathering. We believe that Lean methods should be a standard part of the toolkit for anyone interested in process excellence. iGrafx has been helping companies document, analyze and manage processes for nearly two decades and the Lean community is a natural evolution for our products."
